Another specialized version of the twist is the frieze, which is a twist with very tightly wound tufts. These tufts curl around, but their tight twist protects them from fraying, making it a very wear-resilient broadloom for high traffic areas.

The options do not stop there. Another very popular option is Berber. These are loop-pile carpets that combine the durability of a commercial loop with the softness of a residential twist. Many of these also are available in a patterned style, which can add a unique touch to your flooring.
